An animal rights group based in California, the Duo Welfare project has set up a petition on Change.org that is addressed to Chen Wu, the governor of Yulin City and the rest of the government officials. It is stated that the event has already tarnished the people of Guangxi and will have negative consequences on commerce and to the tourism industry.
The same group has launched a campaign video on YouTube.com with views close to 200,000. The video states that most of these dogs and cats are stolen from owners and are sold for money by thieves for this festival.
There are several group campaigning through Facebook like Stop Yulin Dog & Cat Meat Festival 2015 having 60,000 followers. Even international and local celebrities are joining the call to end this festival.
Join these animal activist groups in stopping this festival. If we don't stop Yulin meat festival, these poor animals will be beaten to death and eaten. Apart from being an ancient tradition, this event is made only for selfish reason, to boost the business of dog meat traders. This is too much cruelty to tolerate such behavior. Sometimes the scale of animal suffering is too much and as an individual we conclude we can't make a difference. Not to care is an option, but everyone of us has a voice that can unite into one common goal. If this goal can be heard, there will no longer be killing of dogs and cats thus finally the Yulin Meat Festival has put to stop.
