A mother was caught on cam slapping her newborn baby, which is only one day old. It happened in Pasay General Hospital. This alarming video quickly went viral over the social media sites.
According to the Chief of Pasay City Social Welfare Development Rosalinda Orobia, the mother was suffering from a postpartum depression, which affects the behavior of the mother after giving birth.
The baby was taken to a separate room because of the incident. When the claims that this mother is suffering from mental illness is proven, she will be transferred to National Center for Mental Health.
The institution is now looking for the family and relatives of the mother. If they have no relatives who are willing to take care of the newborn child, the baby will be brought to an institution.
