Thieves and robbers have always seen women as an easy target when it comes to crimes. They have a mindset that women are easier to steal from, that is why in the most number of robbery majority of the victims are women.
But women nowadays are capable of defending themselves because more and more self-defense classes are being opened up to the public. This technique could help them in times of danger.
Monique Bastos was traveling on the way to their jiujitsu practice in Acailandia, Brazil. She was with her two friends when two men riding a motorcycle stopped in front of them and tried to take their bags and phones. It was a case of robbery.
But when Monique Bastos realized that these men were unarmed, she lifted the rear of the motor and the men fell on the ground. The man who took their phone got away while the other one was on the ground.
She immediately found her way to knock the man out and lock him around her legs as if she was in a fight in the ring. The man was literally tapping out indicating that he was giving up because the girl was choking her for more than 2 minutes until the police officers arrived.
Bastos claims that she is not new to this kind of incidents. She was once victimized by men armed with knives and she fought for herself as well.
As you can see, learning how to defend yourself can really save you in desperate times.
