Is it possible for a woman to get pregnant without knowing it? Well, yes indeed. Other women tend to skip the signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Thus, when the due date comes they are suprised by the labor.
A 92-year-old woman from Chile was carrying a baby inside her tummy for the past 50 years. The doctor claims that the fetus inside her belly had been there for more than 50 years.
It was found by the hospital in San Antonio City after the woman was brought there for some treatment after she fell. But, when the x-ray tests came in, it indicates that there is a 4.4 pounds fetus inside the abdomen of the woman.
This rare phenomenon is called lithopedion whereas the fetus dies within the pregnancy and it is calcified outside of the uterus.
The director of the hospital, Marco Vargas Lazo could not believe the incident. The fetus was said to occupy all of the abdominal cavity of the woman.
